Sea Monsters Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Hawks
July 8, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Sea Monsters and Hawks played a taut affair on Saturday, but Sea Monsters eventually prevailed 9-5 after taking the lead for good in the third inning. The game was tied at three with Sea Monsters batting in the bottom of the third when Robert Saghy singled off of Taylor Barker, driving in two runs.
Hawks took an early lead in the first inning. Ethan Reando doubled on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring one run.
Sea Monsters took the lead for good with two runs in the third inning.
Pat Barrett earned the win for Sea Monsters. He tossed six innings, allowing three runs, six hits, and striking out eight. Colin Selby took the loss for Hawks. He threw one and one-third innings, allowing three runs, two hits, striking out three, and walking one.
Sea Monsters had 13 hits in the game. Antonio Leite Jr. and Terrence Pinkston each collected multiple hits for Sea Monsters. Leite Jr. led Sea Monsters with three hits in four at bats.

Suns fought back after falling down by five runs in the sixth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in an 8-6 defeat to Knights on Saturday. Suns scored four runs in the failed comeback on a by Austin Thomas in the sixth, a in the seventh, a double by Justice Bigbie in the seventh, and a error in the eighth.
Suns collected ten hits and Knights had 12 in the high-scoring affair
Knights took an early lead in the first inning. Henry Moore homered on a 1-0 count in the first inning, scoring one run.
After Knights scored one run in the top of the eighth, Suns answered with one of their own.Knights scored when Samuel Neal singled off of Riley Wesp, driving in one run. Suns then answered when there was an error, scoring one run.
Knights knotted the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning. Knights scored one run when Chris Guilles singled with two outs in the fourth inning.
Knights took the lead for good with four runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth J Foster singled off of Chris Baker, driving in one run and Nick Lees doubled off of Alexander MacKinnon, driving in three runs.
Guilles earned the win for Knights. He went six innings, allowing four runs, eight hits, and striking out nine. Teddy Herbert recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Knights. Bakertook the loss for Suns. He pitched four and a third innings, allowing five runs, six hits, and striking out one.
Thomas Chisam started the game for Knights. He pitched one and one-third innings, surrendering two runs, and two hits.
Justin Bunting and Justice Bigbie each collected multiple hits for Suns. Bigbie and Bunting each collected two hits to lead Suns. Suns didn’t commit a single error in the field. Tynan Hoefferlehad nine chances in the field, the most on the team.

Seagulls Jumps Out To Early Lead In Victory Over Fightin’ Crabs

Seagulls grabbed an early lead on its way to a 15-7 victory over Fightin’ Crabs on Saturday.Seagulls scored on a single by Derrek Marshall Jr., an error, a groundout by Garrison Vick, and a single by Elijah Ervin in the second inning.
Fightin’ Crabs scored five runs in the sixth inning, but Seagulls still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Fightin’ Crabs came thanks to a single by Evan Hirschbaum, a double by Zachary Blaeser, and a triple by Ben MacDonald.
Fightin’ Crabs captured the lead in the second inning. MacDonald’s sac fly scored one run for Fightin’ Crabs.
Seagulls took the lead for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Derrek Marshall Jr. singled off of Trevor Smith, driving in one run, there was an error, scoring one run, Garrison Vick grounded out, scoring one run, and Elijah Ervin singled off of Smith, driving in one run.
Seagulls scored five runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a walk by Jonathan Santiago, a single by Marshall Jr., and a double by Shane Gipson.

Pelicans Falls To Bluefish After Eighth Inning Score

Pelicans lost the lead late in an 8-6 defeat to Bluefish on Saturday. Bluefish was down 6-4 in the top of the eighth inning when Diggy Cimaroli doubled off of Santino Paris, driving in three runs.
Pelicans collected eight hits and Bluefish had 13 in the high-scoring affair
Pelicans evened things up at one in the bottom of the third inning. Harrison Sabo grounded out, scoring one run.
Pelicans scored three runs in the fifth inning. Pelicans scored on a single by Sabo and a single by Josh Crummer.
Ashton Knutson earned the win for Bluefish. He went three innings, surrendering one run, three hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Alec Berry recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Bluefish. Santino Paris took the loss for Pelicans. He pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs, and four hits.

Daredevils fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-7 loss to Bluefish on Friday. Bluefish scored on a single by Daniel Haskell in the first inning, a single by Noah Herried in the second inning, and a stolen base in the second inning.
Despite the loss, Daredevils did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Bluefish had ten hits on the way to victory.

Hawks Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Knights

In the completion of the suspended games between the Knights and Hawks, who were tied at 7 going into the top of the 10th, the Knights and Hawks continued their battle, taking 11 innings to settle this one.
Hawks and Knights passed the lead back-and-forth on Saturday, but eventually Knights prevailed 9-7. The game was tied at seven with Knights batting in the top of the eleventh when Wyatt Brock walked Zachary Herring to drive in a run.
Hawks collected 11 hits and Knights had 15 in the high-scoring affair
Hawks took an early lead in the second inning. With two outs in the second inning Andrew Teixeira drove in one run when he singled.
Hawks knotted the game up at seven in the bottom of the seventh inning. J Foster walked Ethan Reando with the bases loaded to drive in a run.

Waves captured the lead in the first inning. Matt Padeway grounded out, scoring one run.
Waves scored three runs in the fourth inning. Waves scored on a fielder’s choice, a double by Declan O’Malley, and a double by Colin Mattice.

An early lead helped propel Waves to victory. Waves scored on a single by Collin Porter in the first inning, a single by Brandon Kussmaul in the second inning, a stolen base in the second inning, and a single by Porter in the second inning.

Three Pitchers Team Up As Suns Shuts Out Sea Monsters

Suns defeated Sea Monsters 5-0 on Friday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Ben Marsico struck out Lucas Terwilliger to finish off the game.
One bright spot for Sea Monsters was a single by Ricardo Carrasco in the third inning.
Eric O’Brien earned the win for Suns. He tossed seven innings, surrendering zero runs, five hits, striking out six, and walking one. Two relievers helped Suns close out the victory. Ryan Rileythrew one inning. Tyghe Bowers took the loss for Sea Monsters. He went four innings, surrendering four runs, five hits, and walking one.
Justice Bigbie led Suns with two runs batted in. He went 2-for-3 on the day. Suns didn’t commit a single error in the field. Tyler Dean had the most chances in the field with 11.
