PREMIER DIVISION

Tidewater Summer League

The Tidewater Summer League, continuing it’s 70 plus year tradition of providing a great summer baseball experience for players and fans alike, is excited to announce our premier collegiate division, which will feature top collegiate players from around the country and established franchises with a 20 plus year history of operating high quality, successful collegiate summer baseball operations.

The 2020 season will see our teams compete in a 42-game regular season, followed by our playoff and championship series, and will run from May 26th through August 1st. While the TSL’s development division simulates a professional spring training season, our premier division will simulate a professional minor league season, with teams hosting home games in great facilities full of loyal and enthusiastic fans and then traveling to other cities to play their away games.

Players will be staying with host families, which are the backbone of collegiate summer baseball, and first-class transportation to all away games is provided by the teams. Uniforms, equipment and other baseball related gear is also provided by the teams, along with outstanding coaches committed to helping players showcase their talents to professional scouts and other college coaches, while continuing their development both on and off the field. Players will also participate in team community service activities during the season, allowing them the opportunity to give back to their adopted summer communities and enrich both their own lives and the lives of others.

Our teams are located within a small geographical area of Southeast Virginia and Northeast North Carolina, greatly reducing travel time for players to and from away games. With our team’s geographical construct, our players will spend approximately 200 hours less riding on the bus than players in other collegiate summer leagues, which gives them 200 hours more to spend getting in extra work on the field, in the cages, in the pen, more time in the weight room, time for that online class and most importantly, more time for themselves to enjoy some of their summer while still participating in a top collegiate summer league.

The Tidewater Summer League, a NCAA compliant league, has been organized with a team first approach, and a desire to provide its teams a professionally managed league platform designed to ensure the teams are successful. Our teams, in the same manner, are designed and operated to provide their players with everything necessary to enjoy a successful summer baseball experience that approximates a minor league season while recognizing and understanding our players are collegiate athlete’s, not professional players, and striking a good balance between the “grind” of minor league ball and a quality summer filled with great baseball, a taste of professional life, and still have time to get in additional training, development and a chance to enjoy the great towns our teams are located in, all in such a manner as not to jeopardize our players NCAA eligibility.

Players in the TSL’s Premier Collegiate Division are recommended by college coaches and MLB Scouts. Our players will enjoy a great summer experience playing with and against top collegiate players from around the country; college coaches committed to their players success, exposure and development; experienced collegiate umpires; great venues with large, enthusiastic crowds of loyal fans; short travel times to away games; host families for players; post game meals provided after all games; teams committed to ensuring their players have everything they need to be successful on the field, and in the future; and a chance to spend part of their summer in great communities along the Atlantic coast.
