Head Coach: David Dennis
David Dennis is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Willamette University baseball team as the Bearcats prepare for the 2018 season. He will work with the infielders and outfielders, while serving as the team’s first base coach.
Dennis arrived at Willamette after completing his GA work at Corban University (2015 – 2017 Seasons). There he worked with the catchers, was the office manager, in-charge of study hall, was the camp director, and served as an assistant coach to the Corban JV baseball team; running the offense / defense.
Prior to coming to Willamette, Dennis followed a number of years of garnering coaching experience at varying levels across the United States. He played collegiately at the College of Idaho from 2007-2009. He ultimately earned his degree from the University of Nevada-Reno in 2012 with a degree in General Studies and an emphasis in Health Sciences. In 2017, he earned his MBA from Corban University.
Dennis’s most recent coaching stint saw him take an expansion team, the Storm Lake WhiteCaps, a team in the Pioneer Collegiate Summer Baseball League, take 2nd in the Regular season, and win the League Championship. There Dennis posted a record of 20-14.
While serving as the Vice President of the Reno Blue Devils Baseball Academy and as one of the Head Coaches for multiple teams from 2010-2013, Dennis was in charge of Player Development, scheduling, travel, as well as leading his teams to multiple championships. He was also twice named an All-Star Coach of the State for Reno West Babe Ruth in Nevada. Also during his time in Nevada, he led multiple Babe Ruth Prep teams to League Championships and was selected as the All-Star manager in 2011 and 2012.
Prior to his coaching in Nevada, he also served as a Head JV coach and was in charge of Summer Baseball teams during the 2009-2010 time frame. Moreover, he coached Team USA 17U in June of 2010 and was in charge of high school baseball players for the Team USA qualifying camp.
In his free time, Dennis is an avid sports fans. He enjoys watching sports every chance he gets, starting with the San Francisco Giants to the San Francisco 49ers, the San Jose Sharks, and the Sacramento Kings. He loves to travel and to be able to see new places while experiencing new things. Dennis resides in Salem, OR.
