Lakewood Legends Clinches Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat Greenbrier Knights

June 5, 2019 – Virginia Beach, VA

Lakewood Legends snatched the lead late in the game in a 12-7 victory over Greenbrier Knights on Wednesday. The game was tied at seven with Lakewood Legends batting in the bottom of the seventh when Austin Kirkpatrick was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Brett Bishop led Lakewood Legends to victory by driving in five runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate. Bishop drove in runs on a double in the first, a home run in the third, and a single in the seventh.

Lakewood Legends got things moving in the first inning, when Bishop doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Greenbrier Knights scored three runs in the fourth inning. All drove in runs in the frame.

Kyle McShaffry was the winning pitcher for Lakewood Legends. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out one. Hyeonsang Cho and Bo Gonzalesentered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Kevin Restin took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. He went four innings, allowing four runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one.

Nytorious Cooler started the game for Lakewood Legends. He surrendered three runs on four hits over four innings, striking out three

Lakewood Legends socked one home run on the day. Bishop had a four bagger in the third inning.

Lakewood Legends totaled 11 hits. Bishop and Evan Keller each managed multiple hits for Lakewood LegendsKeller and Bishop each collected three hits to lead Lakewood Legends.

Greenbrier Knights racked up eight hits. Ricky SistoTredell Blow, and Stefan Lesco each had multiple hits for Greenbrier Knights.
