Late Score Costs Virginia Blasters Against Norfolk Redbirds

Tuesday’s game against Norfolk Redbirds was a heart breaker for Virginia Blasters, as they lost the lead late in an 18-10 defeat. The game was tied at ten with Norfolk Redbirds batting in the top of the ninth when Max Lipscomb singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Chris Guiles collected four hits in defeat. Guiles singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fifth, and singled in the eighth.

In the second inning, Virginia Blasters got their offense started. Virginia Blasters scored one run when Jacob Colbus doubled.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Virginia Blasters tied things up at ten. An error scored one run for Virginia Blasters.

Virginia Blasters notched four runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from a walk by Keanu Walkush, a single by Guiles, and by Patrick Blackall.

Davis Gurosky earned the victory on the hill for Norfolk Redbirds. He lasted two innings, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out two. Christian Maloney and Marco Quintero entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Duncan Newman took the loss for Virginia Blasters. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out three.

Nicolas Graziano started the game for Virginia Blasters. He allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking zero Maxwell Denny started the game for Norfolk Redbirds. He surrendered four runs on four hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one
