Late Score Costs Virginia Beach Shredders Against Norfolk Redbirds

Virginia Beach Shredders stayed in it until the end, but Norfolk Redbirds pulled away late in a 6-3 victory on Friday. The game was tied at three with Norfolk Redbirds batting in the top of the eighth when Campbell Pryor singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Norfolk Redbirds opened up scoring in the second inning. Norfolk Redbirds scored one run when Pryor doubled.

Virginia Beach Shredders evened things up at three in the bottom of the seventh inning.Stephen Felton singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Andrew Ditzel was the winning pitcher for Norfolk Redbirds. He went one inning, allowing one run on one hit. Christopher MorrisTyrin Everette, and Justin Durnil all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Everette recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Norfolk Redbirds.

Logan Simmons took the loss for Virginia Beach Shredders. He allowed eight hits and three runs over six innings, striking out seven.

Christian Maloney started the game for Norfolk Redbirds. He allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking one
