Suffolk Voyagers Clinches Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Virginia Beach Shredders

Suffolk Voyagers snagged a late lead and defeated Virginia Beach Shredders 5-4 on Saturday. The game was tied at three with Suffolk Voyagers batting in the bottom of the sixth when Bryce Smith singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Virginia Beach Shredders fired up the offense in the first inning, when Parker Burch doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

In the top of the fourth inning, Virginia Beach Shredders tied things up at three when Daniel Liljasingled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Suffolk Voyagers took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth Gage Riddick grounded out, scoring one run.

Nick Rinaldi pitched Suffolk Voyagers to victory. He allowed four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out two. Jared MooreHyeon-Ho Cho, and Riddick all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Riddick recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Suffolk Voyagers.

Logan Simmons took the loss for Virginia Beach Shredders. He allowed five hits and five runs over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

SmithRiddickSouth TrimbleChristopher Allen, and Jinwoo Baek each collected one hit to lead Suffolk Voyagers.

Virginia Beach Shredders tallied eight hits in the game. Burch and Josh Gray each collected multiple hits for Virginia Beach ShreddersBurch led Virginia Beach Shredders with three hits in four at bats.
