Jared David toed the rubber for Tarboro River Bandits. The ace surrendered four runs on five hits over seven and a third innings, striking out four and walking zero.

We have two great collegiate summer league games on the slate for today, including the River Bandits home opener and the Sea Dogs season opener.
The Virginia Beach Sea Dogs will be making their first trip down to Historic Hicks Field to take on the Edenton Steamers in their league opener. Game Time is 5:00pm, gates open at 4:00pm, tickets are available at the gate.
The Tarboro River Bandits will host the Boone Bigfoots tonight at Tarboro Municipal Stadium in their home opener, with game time at 7:00pm and gates open at 6:00pm. Tickets are available at the gate.

Chris Morris led the Edenton Steamers to victory on the hill. The righthander surrendered one run on one hit over one inning, striking out two and walking zero. Camron Lewis and Gage Riddick entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Riddick recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Edenton Steamers.
Travis Shumate took the loss for Boone Bigfoots. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out one and walking zero.

The Tarboro River Bandits open 2022 season with 10 – 8 at the Wake Forest Fungo.
Wake Forest Fungo fought back after falling down by six runs in the eighth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 10-8 defeat to Tarboro River Bandits on Saturday. Wake Forest Fungo scored four runs in the failed comeback. W Walker, C Fluno, Brendan Burke, and Walker fueled the rally with RBIs.
Despite the loss, Wake Forest Fungo did collect 11 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Tarboro River Bandits had seven hits on the way to victory.
Tarboro River Bandits took the lead for good with one run in the fifth inning. In the fifth Rafael Garcia‘s sac fly scored one run for Tarboro River Bandits.

The Tarboro River Bandits will be travelling to Wake Forest, NC to take on the Fungo in this rematch of last year’s league championship game, won by the River Bandits. This is the River Bandits 2022 season opener, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:00pm at Heritage HS.
In our other contest, the Boone Bigfoots will be travelling to Edenton, NC to battle the Steamers in Edenton’s first home game of the 2022 season. The Steamers opened their 2022 campaign last night in Clayton, NC where they defeated the Clovers by a final score of 5 – 1.

The Tidewater Summer League is excited to announce the hiring of Hayden Bandel as our 2022 Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations.
Hayden Bandel lives in East Windsor, New Jersey and just finished his freshman year at Temple University studying Media Studies and Production. In college, Hayden got involved as a reporter for Owl Sports Update and an on-air host at the college radio station, WHIP. He also has done work behind the scenes, filming games and being the replay operator for ESPN+ broadcasts. Next year, Hayden is looking forward to becoming a peer mentor at Klein.
