Outer Banks Daredevils Almost Erases 8-Run Deficit In Loss To Virginia Blasters

Virginia Blasters built an eight-run lead in the second inning and then held off Outer Banks Daredevils‘s charge for an 11-9 victory on Monday. Outer Banks Daredevils scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Hunter Rameriz in the fourth, a single by Dominick Claxtonin the fourth, a home run by Justin Taylor in the fourth, and a home run by Rameriz in the fifth.

Virginia Blasters earned the victory despite allowing Outer Banks Daredevils to score seven runs in the fourth inning. RamerizClaxton, and Taylor each had RBIs in the big inning.

Outer Banks Daredevils got on the board in the first inning when Taylor doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Virginia Blasters pulled away for good with two runs in the fifth inning.

Duncan Newman led the Virginia Blasters to victory on the mound. He went three innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out three. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Noah LeBrunZac CappsYoung Sub Han, and Joseph Vargas all securing outs and ultimately the victory. Capps recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Virginia Blasters.

Cole Taylor took the loss for Outer Banks Daredevils. He lasted three innings, allowing nine hits and nine runs while striking out two.

Virginia Blasters smacked one home run on the day. Devon Tukes put one out in the second inning.
