Greenbrier Knights Clinches Lead In Eighth Inning For Victory Over Virginia Beach Shredders

Greenbrier Knights took the lead late and defeated Virginia Beach Shredders 10-9 on Monday.Greenbrier Knights was down 8-7 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Brandon Clark singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Greenbrier Knights earned the victory despite allowing Virginia Beach Shredders to score six runs in the first inning. Virginia Beach Shredders big bats were led by Tyler KeatonMatthew Coutts, and Adrian Ty Andrews, all driving in runs in the inning.

In the first inning, Virginia Beach Shredders got their offense started when Keaton doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

Greenbrier Knights tallied four runs in the fifth inning. Wesley BonneyClark, and Scott McDonough all drove in runs in the frame.

Brent Kline was the winning pitcher for Greenbrier Knights. He allowed five hits and six runs over five innings, striking out seven. Trey Celata and Kevin Restin entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Restin recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Greenbrier Knights.
