Pelicans Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Knights
June 10, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Pelicans and Knights played a tight game, but Knights pulled out the 17-13 victory on Tuesday. The game was tied at 11 with Knights batting in the top of the seventh when Chance Harveyuncorked a wild pitch, scoring two runs.
Pelicans collected 12 hits and Knights had 12 in the high-scoring affair. Knights took an early lead in the second inning. With one out in the second inning TJ Wynkoopdrove in two runs when he singled.
After Knights scored two runs in the top of the eighth, Pelicans answered with two of their own.Knights scored when there was an error, scoring one run and Bennie Spady hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. Pelicans then answered when Josh Crummer homered off of Colin Ottofaro, driving in one run and Jackson Peterson hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.
Pelicans scored five runs in the fifth inning. Pelicans scored on a error and a double by George Favetta.
Ottofaro earned the win for Knights. He tossed three innings, giving up two runs, and four hits. Santino Paris took the loss for Pelicans. He pitched two and a third innings, giving up six runs, four hits, and striking out four.
Danny Madden started the game for Pelicans. He pitched four innings, allowing seven runs, four hits, and striking out eight. Teddy Herbert started the game for Knights. He went four innings, allowing two runs, three hits, and striking out three.
Peterson, Harrison Sabo, and Favetta each collected multiple hits for Pelicans. Favetta, Sabo, and Peterson all had two hits to lead Pelicans.
JR Polak, Spady, and Zachary Herring each collected multiple hits for Knights. Spady led Knights with four runs batted in. He went 2-for-4 on the day.
