Seagulls Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Knights
June 8, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Even though Seagulls and Knights both had their opportunities, it was Knights that eventually prevailed 5-3 on Thursday. The game was tied at three with Knights batting in the top of the ninth when JR Polak singled off of John Wicksier, driving in one run.
Seagulls took an early lead in the first inning. Seagulls scored one run when Derrek Marshall Jr.homered with two outs in the first inning.
Knights evened things up at three in the top of the eighth inning. An error scored one run for Knights.
Josh Reilly earned the win for Knights. He went five innings, allowing zero runs, two hits, striking out seven, and walking one. Reilly recorded the last 15 outs to earn the save for Knights. John Wicksier took the loss for Seagulls. He threw one inning, allowing two runs, three hits, striking out one, and walking zero.
Andrew Griffin started the game for Seagulls. He tossed three innings, giving up two runs, four hits, and walking one. Henry Moore started the game for Knights. He pitched four innings, surrendering three runs, three hits, and striking out four.
Garrett Houston and Marshall Jr. each drove in one run to lead Seagulls.
Knights had ten hits in the game. JR Polak and Bennie Spady each collected multiple hits for Knights. Polak led Knights with three hits in five at bats.
