Norfolk Redbirds Drops Game To Greenbrier Knights After Late Score

Saturday’s game against Greenbrier Knights was a heartbreaker for Norfolk Redbirds, as they lost the lead late in a 16-6 defeat. The game was tied at six with Greenbrier Knights batting in the top of the eighth when Scott McDonough doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, Norfolk Redbirds did collect ten hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Greenbrier Knights had eight hits on the way to victory.

Greenbrier Knights opened up an early lead in the second inning when an error scored two runs for Greenbrier Knights.

Norfolk Redbirds tallied three runs in the fourth inning. Carlo Zorola and Campbell Pryor all drove in runs in the frame.

Wesley Bonney led the Greenbrier Knights to victory on the hill. He allowed four hits and one run over three innings, striking out two. Tredell Blow threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Andrew Ditzel took the loss for Norfolk Redbirds. He went one-third of an inning, allowing eight runs on three hits.

Norfolk Redbirds scattered ten hits in the game. Darren McKeown and Zorola each managed multiple hits for Norfolk Redbirds. McKeown went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Norfolk Redbirds in hits.

Greenbrier Knights tallied eight hits in the game. Ricky Sisto and Benny Spady all managed multiple hits for Greenbrier Knights.
