Lakewood Legends Blows Out Portsmouth Yardbirds Thanks To Big First Inning

Seven runs in the first inning led Lakewood Legends past Portsmouth Yardbirds 10-2 on Sunday. Evan Keller, Austin Kirkpatrick, Kyle McShaffry, Jared Jordan, and Cody Sandlin each had RBIs in the frame.
Lakewood Legends fired up the offense in the first inning, when Keller doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Azriel Davidson was credited with the victory for Lakewood Legends. He lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out three and walking one. Logan Dunbar, Cody Ray, and Donald Arceneaux all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
Robert McDaniel took the loss for Portsmouth Yardbirds. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and eight runs while striking out two and walking one.
Lakewood Legends tallied ten hits in the game. Sandlin and Bo Gonzales each managed multiple hits for Lakewood Legends. Sandlin went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Lakewood Legends in hits. David Laurenti led Lakewood Legends with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases. Lakewood Legends didn’t commit a single error in the field. McShaffry had the most chances in the field with eight.
Joshua Brown led Portsmouth Yardbirds with two hits in two at bats.
