Lakewood Legends Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Virginia Beach Shredders
Lakewood Legends ran off with the lead late in the game in an 11-8 victory over Virginia Beach Shredders on Thursday. The game was tied at seven with Lakewood Legends batting in the bottom of the sixth when Austin Kirkpatrick singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Virginia Beach Shredders scored six runs in the third inning, but Lakewood Legends still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Virginia Beach Shredders came thanks to a walk by Patrick Aitken, a home run by Tyler Keaton, and a double by Nick Mackedon.
Lakewood Legends took the lead for good with one run in the sixth inning.
Azriel Davidson earned the victory on the hill for Lakewood Legends. He surrendered seven runs on five hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Bren Faulk, Dylan Schumacher, and Samuel Smith all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Schumacher recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Lakewood Legends.
