Sandbridge Seagulls 13, Lynnhaven Pelicans 5

Pelicans Can’t Hold Up Against Seagulls

June 14, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Wednesday was a long day for Pelicans, as it fell to Seagulls 13-5.

Seagulls scored five runs in the fifth inning. Seagulls’s big inning was driven by a single by Derrek Marshall Jr., a double by Grant Thompson, a single by Patrick Keohane, a single by Christian Concepcion, and a single by Garrison Vick.

Chase Walter earned the win for Seagulls. He went five and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs, six hits, and striking out nine. Samuel Wood took the loss for Pelicans. He pitched five innings, allowing seven runs, 11 hits, and striking out six.

Pelicans had 12 hits in the game. Tom Kelley, Harrison Sabo, and Joe Klingensmith each collected multiple hits for Pelicans. Kelley and Klingensmith each drove in two runs to lead Pelicans.

Seagulls collected 15 hits. Marshall Jr., Concepcion, Vick, Thompson, and Christopher Houle each collected multiple hits for Seagulls. Marshall Jr. led Seagulls with four runs batted in. He went 3-for-5 on the day.
