Buscetto’s Walkoff Gives Fightin’ Crabs Victory Over Suns

A walk-off error led Fightin’ Crabs past Suns 12-11 on Tuesday. The game was tied at 11 with Fightin’ Crabs batting in the bottom of the eleventh when there was an error, scoring one run.
Fightin’ Crabs built a four-run lead in the second inning and then held off Suns’s charge. Suns scored 11 runs in the failed comeback on a double by Brad Pearson in the fourth, a double by Lawrence Cicileo in the fourth, a single by Andrew Rodriguez in the fifth, a single by Pearson in the fifth, a single by Pearson in the seventh, a single by Tynan Hoefferle in the eighth, and a double by Justice Bigbie in the eighth.
Fightin’ Crabs took an early lead in the first inning. Ben MacDonald grounded out, scoring one run.
After Suns scored one run in the top of the seventh, Fightin’ Crabs answered with one of their own. Suns scored when Pearson singled off of James Jakuba, driving in one run. Fightin’ Crabs then answered when Will Sheats homered off of Meigs Lamb, driving in one run.
Fightin’ Crabs knotted the game up at 11 in the bottom of the eighth inning. Brendan Gausselinsingled on the first pitch of the at bat in the eighth inning, scoring one run.
Fightin’ Crabs scored three runs in the eighth inning. Fightin’ Crabs scored on a double by Evan Hirschbaum and a single by Gausselin.
Suns scored four runs in the eighth inning. Suns’s big inning was driven by a single by Hoefferle and a double by Bigbie.
Jake Thompson earned the win for Fightin’ Crabs. He went four innings, allowing four runs, and three hits. Ben Marsico took the loss for Suns. He tossed three and a third innings, surrendering four runs, seven hits, and striking out two.
Lane Madsen started the game for Suns. He threw three innings, giving up six runs, six hits, and striking out one. Griffen Tate started the game for Fightin’ Crabs. He tossed four innings, allowing four runs, eight hits, striking out two, and walking zero.
Fightin’ Crabs had 18 hits in the game. Sam Graf, Hirschbaum, Billy Buscetto, TJ Wardwell, John Tierney Jr., and MacDonald each collected multiple hits for Fightin’ Crabs. Buscetto, Hirschbaum, and Graf each managed three hits to lead Fightin’ Crabs. Fightin’ Crabs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Sheats had the most chances in the field with 13.
