Fightin’ Crabs Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Knights
July 8, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Fightin’ Crabs took the lead late and defeated Knights 2-1 on Sunday. The game was tied at one with Fightin’ Crabs batting in the bottom of the sixth when Zachary Blaeser singled off of Josh Reilly, driving in one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Fightin’ Crabs pitchers struck out seven, while hurlers for Knights sat down two.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Fightin’ Crabs tied things up at one. Fightin’ Crabs scored one run when Zachary Blaeser singled with one out in the fourth inning.
Noah Gear earned the win for Fightin’ Crabs. He went six innings, allowing one run, six hits, and striking out seven. Franklin Miller recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Fightin’ Crabs. Colin Ottofaro took the loss for Knights. He pitched five innings, giving up two runs, five hits, striking out two, and walking one.
Blaeser led Fightin’ Crabs with two runs batted in. He went 2-for-3 on the day. Fightin’ Crabsdidn’t commit a single error in the field. Ben MacDonald had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.
Chris Guilles led Knights with two hits in four at bats.
