Blaeser’s Walkoff Gives Fightin’ Crabs Victory Over Suns
June 19, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
A walk-off single led Fightin’ Crabs past Suns 3-2 on Monday. The game was tied at two with Fightin’ Crabs batting in the bottom of the ninth when Zachary Blaeser singled off of Chris Baker, driving in one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Fightin’ Crabs pitchers struck out five, while hurlers for Suns sat down five.
Fightin’ Crabs evened things up at two in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs in the seventh inning Sam Graf drove in two runs when he doubled.
Jake Thompson earned the win for Fightin’ Crabs. He went three innings, giving up zero runs, one hit, striking out two, and walking zero. Chris Baker took the loss for Suns. He threw one inning, giving up one run, and one hit.
Ryan Riley started the game for Suns. He went six and a third innings, surrendering two runs, six hits, and striking out five. Noah Gear started the game for Fightin’ Crabs. He pitched six innings, surrendering two runs, seven hits, striking out three, and walking one.
Fightin’ Crabs had eight hits in the game. Graf and John Tierney Jr. each collected multiple hits for Fightin’ Crabs. Tierney Jr. and Graf each managed two hits to lead Fightin’ Crabs.
Suns collected eight hits. Andrew Rodriguez and Justice Bigbie each collected multiple hits for Suns. Suns was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Rodriguez made the most plays with seven.
