Waves Can’t Quite Erase 4-Run Deficit In Loss To Sea Monsters
June 19, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Despite a 4-run deficit in the twelfth inning, Waves almost came all the way back, eventually falling 5-4 to Sea Monsters on Monday. Waves scored three runs in the failed comeback on a by Ross Abrash, a fielder’s choice by Jacob Day, and a walk by Jonathan Lindau.

Waves evened things up at one in the bottom of the eighth inning. Thomas Meucci hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
Glen Pizzanello earned the win for Sea Monsters. He tossed two innings, allowing three runs, and three hits. Christian Rivera took the loss for Waves. He went one inning, allowing zero runs, zero hits, striking out one, and walking zero.
Jacob Pilarski started the game for Waves. He went nine innings, giving up one run, three hits, and striking out eight. Nick Bay started the game for Sea Monsters. He threw nine innings, allowing one run, six hits, and striking out six.
Waves had ten hits in the game. Ross Abrash, Meucci, Christian Castro, and Brandon Shirley each collected multiple hits for Waves. Meucci, Abrash, and Jacob Day each drove in one run to lead Waves.
Joshua Nellis led Sea Monsters with two hits in four at bats.
