Hawks Captures Lead Early To Defeat Suns
June 7, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Suns fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-6 loss to Hawks on Wednesday. Hawks scored on a double by Conner Clark, a double by Garrett Lyons, a double by Richard De La Cruz, and a double by Cullen Stockley in the second inning.
Despite the loss, Suns did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Hawks had 14 hits on the way to victory.
Suns captured the lead in the first inning. Michael Polansky singled on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring one run.
Hawks took the lead for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Conner Clark doubled, driving in one run, Garrett Lyons doubled, driving in one run, Richard De La Cruz doubled, driving in one run, and Cullen Stockley doubled, driving in three runs.
Liam Carr earned the win for Hawks. He pitched five innings, giving up three runs, four hits, striking out six, and walking zero.
Ethan Santos started the game for Hawks. He threw four innings, giving up three runs, three hits, and striking out seven.
Andrew Rodriguez went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Suns in hits.
Stockley, Jamar Criss, Clark, Lyons, and Cameron Reckling each collected multiple hits for Hawks.
