Late Score Costs Waves Against Fightin’ Crabs

Wednesday’s game against Fightin’ Crabs was a heartbreaker for Waves, as they lost the lead late in a 7-5 defeat. The game was tied at three with Fightin’ Crabs batting in the top of the sixth when Zachary Blaeser singled off of Chase Douglas, driving in one run.
Waves took an early lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Brandon Kussmauldrove in one run when he singled.
Waves knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the fifth inning. Samuel Czel drove in one when he doubled in the fifth inning.
Fightin’ Crabs took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth TJ Wardwell singled off of Chase Douglas, driving in one run.
Franklin Miller earned the win for Fightin’ Crabs. He pitched four innings, surrendering two runs, one hit, and striking out four. Christian Rivera took the loss for Waves. He threw five innings, allowing three runs, six hits, and striking out three.
Trevor Smith started the game for Fightin’ Crabs. He pitched five innings, giving up three runs, five hits, striking out four, and walking one.
Waves had six hits in the game. Kussmaul and Ross Abrash each collected multiple hits for Waves. Kussmaul led Waves with three hits in five at bats.
