Waves advance to Elite 8

The Virginia Beach Waves advance to Elite 8 Round of the post season tournament with their 10 – 7 defeat of the Chesapeake Suns in the game 1 of the play in round. The loss eliminates the Suns from the tournament and brings their 2017 season to an end.
Suns watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 10-7 loss to Waves on Wednesday. Waves scored on a single by Matt Padeway, a single by Jonathan Lindau, and a groundout by Collin Porter in the first inning.
Suns collected 12 hits and Waves had 13 in the high-scoring affair
Waves took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Matt Padeway drove in one run when he singled.
Suns scored three runs in the ninth inning. Suns’s big inning was driven by a error and a single by Tyler Dean.

Andrew Houde earned the win for Waves. He went eight innings, surrendering four runs, ten hits, and striking out seven. Ben Marsico took the loss for Suns. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs, nine hits, and striking out two.
Justice Bigbie, Jamarius Epperson, and Lawrence Cicileo each collected multiple hits for Suns.Dean and Cicileo each drove in two runs to lead Suns.
O’Malley, Brandon Kussmaul, Ross Abrash, and Padeway each collected multiple hits for Waves.
