Waves Jumps Out To Early Lead In Victory Over Fightin’ Crabs

Waves grabbed an early lead on its way to an 11-2 victory over Fightin’ Crabs on Thursday.Waves scored on a double by Matt Padeway, a single by Colin Mattice, a double by Brandon Shirley, and a single by Thomas Meucci in the first inning.
Fightin’ Crabs took an early lead in the first inning. Evan Hirschbaum grounded out, scoring one run.
Waves took the lead for good with four runs in the first inning. In the first Matt Padeway doubled off of Griffen Tate, driving in one run, Colin Mattice singled off of Tate, driving in one run, Brandon Shirley doubled off of Tate, driving in one run, and Thomas Meucci singled off of Tate, driving in one run.
Chance Pauley earned the win for Waves. He went seven innings, giving up two runs, eight hits, striking out six, and walking zero. Two relievers helped Waves close out the victory. Jacob Day threw one inning. Tate took the loss for Fightin’ Crabs. He tossed five innings, surrendering ten runs, 14 hits, and walking one.
Waves had 15 hits in the game. Declan O’Malley, Brandon Kussmaul, Kevin Roberts, Meucci, and Padeway each collected multiple hits for Waves. Meucci led Waves with four runs batted in. He went 2-for-3 on the day.
Fightin’ Crabs collected eight hits. John Tierney Jr. and Billy Buscetto each collected multiple hits for Fightin’ Crabs.
