Suffolk Voyagers Defeats Resilient Lakewood Legends

Lakewood Legends fought back after falling down by six runs in the eighth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 10-9 defeat to Suffolk Voyagers on Sunday. Lakewood Legends tallied four runs in the failed comeback. Evan KellerCody Sandlin, and Austin Kirkpatrick powered the rally with RBIs.

Lakewood Legends collected nine hits and Suffolk Voyagers had eight in the high-scoring affair.

Lakewood Legends captured the lead in the first inning when TJ Wynkoop singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Suffolk Voyagers took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Nathan Mixdrew a walk, scoring one run, Matthew Staelgraeve drew a walk, scoring one run, Gage Riddickdrew a walk, scoring one run, and Aaron Morse singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Lakewood Legends scored four runs in the eighth inning. Keller and Sandlin each had RBIs in the frame.

Nick Rinaldi was on the pitcher’s mound for Suffolk Voyagers. He allowed three hits and four runs over three innings, striking out five.

Nytorious Cooler was on the hill for Lakewood Legends. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on two hits and striking out three. Samuel SmithBren Faulk, and Logan Dunbar each contributed in relief for Lakewood Legends.

Lakewood Legends tallied one home run on the day. Kirkpatrick went deep in the ninth inning.

Lakewood Legends tallied nine hits. Tristan Welch and Jared Jordan all managed multiple hits for Lakewood LegendsJordan and Welch each collected two hits to lead Lakewood Legends.

Suffolk Voyagers collected eight hits on the day. Jimmy Griffin and Alex Miller each collected multiple hits for Suffolk VoyagersSuffolk Voyagers stole seven bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Jinwoo Baek led the way with two.
