Early Lead For Greenbrier Knights Seals Fate For Old Dominion Hitters in Game 1 of the 2020 TSL Post Season Play Offs.

Old Dominion Hitters fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-0 loss to Greenbrier Knights on Saturday. Greenbrier Knights took the lead on a home run in the first inning.

The Old Dominion Hitters struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Greenbrier Knights, giving up 13 runs.

In the first inning, Greenbrier Knights got their offense started when Ty Hanchey homered on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs.

A single by Drew Kasiski in the first inning was a positive for Old Dominion Hitters.

Wes Bonney was the winning pitcher for Greenbrier Knights. He allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Ben Capehart took the loss for Old Dominion Hitters. He allowed four hits and seven runs over one inning, striking out two and walking one.

Make the short drive down to beautiful Edenton, NC for the 2020 Tidewater Summer League Post Season’s play off round with a great twin bill at Historic Hicks Field.

In the first game of the day, the Greenbrier Knights will take on the Old Dominion Hitters at 3:00pm.

In the second game, the Tidewater Drillers will take on the Edenton Steamers at 7:00pm.

Gates will open at 2:00pm and tickets will be available at the front gate.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK – WEEK 6

Edenton Steamers Houston Wright went off during the TSL’s final week of regular season play, going 10 for 11 with 12 RBI on his way to earning his third Batter of the Week honors during the 2020 campaign.

Steamer teammate Colin Kriminger earned his second Pitcher of the Week recognition with 4.0 IP and a .000 ERA during the final week of play.

Edenton Steamers Claims Lead In Eighth Inning To Defeat Greenbrier Knights

Edenton Steamers took the lead late and defeated Greenbrier Knights 22-12 on Friday. The game was tied at 12 with Edenton Steamers batting in the bottom of the eighth when Brody Rubenstein drew a walk, scoring one run.

Edenton Steamers was boosted by Houston Wright who went 5-for-5 at the plate. Wright singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, singled in the seventh, and singled in the eighth.

Edenton Steamers opened up scoring in the first inning, when Wright singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

After Greenbrier Knights scored two runs in the top of the seventh, Edenton Steamers answered with two of their own. Greenbrier Knights scored when Ty Hanchey homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Edenton Steamers then answered when Jackson Hipp homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

Wright took the win for Edenton Steamers. He lasted one inning, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two and walking one.

Shane McCarthy took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. He allowed six runs on two hits.

Elijah Wilson started the game for Greenbrier Knights. He lasted two innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out two Tyler Myers started the game for Edenton Steamers. He allowed two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two

Edenton Steamers socked four home runs on the day. Aaron Copeland put one out in the fifth and eighth innings. Hipp went deep in the seventh and eighth innings.

Edenton Steamers tallied 20 hits. Wright, Copeland, Hipp, Shane Easter, Case Kermode, and Rubenstein each racked up multiple hits for Edenton Steamers. Wright went 5-for-5 at the plate to lead Edenton Steamers in hits.

Greenbrier Knights Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Greenbrier Knights fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-2 loss to Tidewater Drillers on Thursday. Tidewater Drillers scored on a sacrifice fly by Mason Dunaway in the first inning, a single by Cade Brewer in the first inning, a single by Hunter Gregory in the first inning, a single by Cameron Reckling in the first inning, a sacrifice fly by Hogan Brown in the second inning, and a single by South Trimble in the second inning.

The Greenbrier Knights struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Tidewater Drillers, giving up 12 runs.

Tidewater Drillers got things started in the first inning. Dunaway’s sac fly scored one run for Tidewater Drillers.

Aiden Kuhle led the Tidewater Drillers to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He went one inning, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out two and walking zero. Eight RBI Day For Josiah Sightler Brings In Win For Edenton Steamers Over Tidewater Drillers

Josiah Sightler was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Tuesday, driving in eight on three hits to lead Edenton Steamers past Tidewater Drillers 17-12 on Tuesday. Sightler drove in runs on a home run in the second, a grand slam in the third, and a home run in the fifth.
