Hawks Loses Lead Early In Defeat
Hawks watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-2 loss to Fightin’ Crabson Monday. Fightin’ Crabs scored on a single by Brayden Barnes in the second inning.
Hawks lost despite out-hitting Fightin’ Crabs ten to seven.
Hawks got things started in the first inning. Sam Camacho drove in one when he singled.
Fightin’ Crabs scored four runs in the seventh inning. Fightin’ Crabs batters contributing to the big inning included Jim Nixon, Barnes, and Jacob Wyeth, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Nathan Valentine was the winning pitcher for Fightin’ Crabs. He allowed nine hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five. Michael Tito and Barnes entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Jake Ottinger took the loss for Hawks. He surrendered four runs on two hits over three innings, striking out three.
Hawks racked up ten hits on the day. Jordan Smith and Douglas Pollock each racked up multiple hits for Hawks. Smith led Hawks with three hits in four at bats. Hawks didn’t commit a single error in the field. Tyler Dodson had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
Barnes went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Fightin’ Crabs in hits.
