Despite Strong Fight, Legends Can’t Top Suns
Legends’s effort to come back from down five runs in the third inning came up just short, as they fell 7-5 to Suns on Monday. Legends scored three runs in the failed comeback on a error and a single by William Wormsbecher.
Legends couldn’t keep up with Suns early in the game. Suns took the lead on a groundout in the first inning.
Suns got things started in the first inning when #7 grounded out, scoring two runs.
Legends scored four runs in the fourth inning. Legends’s big inning was driven by a single by Wormsbecher and an error on a ball put in play by Zarek Simkovich.
Suns scored four runs in the third inning. The big inning for Suns came thanks to doubles by #7and #13 and a walk by #30.
Chase Mandic toed the rubber for Legends. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on two hits and striking out two. Ethan Richter, John Bianchi, and Ryan Rhodes each contributed in relief for Legends.
Legends collected eight hits. Zach Teegen and Wormsbecher each racked up multiple hits for Legends. Teegen went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Legends in hits.
Suns saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. #13 and #1 each collected multiple hits for Suns. #13 led Suns with three hits in five at bats.
