Hawks Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Knights
July 7, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
In the completion of the suspended games between the Knights and Hawks, who were tied at 7 going into the top of the 10th, the Knights and Hawks continued their battle, taking 11 innings to settle this one.
Hawks and Knights passed the lead back-and-forth on Saturday, but eventually Knights prevailed 9-7. The game was tied at seven with Knights batting in the top of the eleventh when Wyatt Brock walked Zachary Herring to drive in a run.
Hawks collected 11 hits and Knights had 15 in the high-scoring affair
Hawks took an early lead in the second inning. With two outs in the second inning Andrew Teixeira drove in one run when he singled.
Hawks knotted the game up at seven in the bottom of the seventh inning. J Foster walked Ethan Reando with the bases loaded to drive in a run.
Knights scored five runs in the seventh inning. Knights’s big inning was driven by a single by Chris Henderson, a double by Henry Moore, and a triple by Stephen Baughan.
Trent Kochheiser earned the win for Knights. He pitched five innings, giving up five runs, nine hits, striking out two, and walking one. Two relievers helped Knights close out the victory. Chris Guilles threw four innings. Jake Ottinger took the loss for Hawks. He tossed five and two-thirds innings, surrendering two runs, six hits, striking out eight, and walking zero.
Garrett Lyons, Conner Clark, and Tyler Dodson each collected multiple hits for Hawks. Dodson, Clark, and Lyons all had two hits to lead Hawks.
Baughan, Moore, Seth Konkel, and Jay Brandt each collected multiple hits for Knights.Baughan led Knights with three hits in four at bats.
