Bluefish blanks Pelicans to advance to final four round of the TSL/VBCBL 2017 Championship Tournament.
July 13, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Pelicans watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-0 loss to Bluefish on Thursday. Bluefish scored on a groundout by Kevin Edgar and a single by Diggy Cimaroli in the first inning.
Bluefish took an early lead in the first inning. Kevin Edgar grounded out, scoring one run.
One bright spot for Pelicans was a single by Justin Hayes in the first inning.
Landon Sewell earned the win for Bluefish. He went eight innings, giving up zero runs, seven hits, striking out 13, and walking zero.
Cody Burnham took the loss for Pelicans. He tossed three and a third innings, giving up five runs, six hits, and striking out one.
Tom Kelley led Pelicans with two hits in four at bats.
Bluefish had ten hits in the game. MacMilan Shoenman, Delmarcus Talley, and Diggy Cimarolieach collected multiple hits for Bluefish. Shoenman went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Bluefish in hits.
The win advances the Norfolk Bluefish into the final four round, and the loss will eliminate the Lynnhaven Pelicans. We want to say thank you to the players, coaches and fans of the Lynnhaven Pelicans, and wish them the best in the baseball and collegiate careers.
