Sea Monsters Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Hawks

July 8, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Sea Monsters and Hawks played a taut affair on Saturday, but Sea Monsters eventually prevailed 9-5 after taking the lead for good in the third inning. The game was tied at three with Sea Monsters batting in the bottom of the third when Robert Saghy singled off of Taylor Barker, driving in two runs.

Hawks took an early lead in the first inning. Ethan Reando doubled on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring one run.

Sea Monsters took the lead for good with two runs in the third inning.

Pat Barrett earned the win for Sea Monsters. He tossed six innings, allowing three runs, six hits, and striking out eight. Colin Selby took the loss for Hawks. He threw one and one-third innings, allowing three runs, two hits, striking out three, and walking one.

Sea Monsters had 13 hits in the game. Antonio Leite Jr. and Terrence Pinkston each collected multiple hits for Sea Monsters. Leite Jr. led Sea Monsters with three hits in four at bats.

Hawks collected eight hits. Reando, Andre Marchesseault, and Tyler Dodson each collected multiple hits for Hawks. Dodson led Hawks with three runs batted in. He went 2-for-3 on the day.
