Suns Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Sea Monsters
July 9, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Even though Suns and Sea Monsters both had their opportunities, it was Sea Monsters that eventually prevailed 16-9 on Sunday. The game was tied at six with Sea Monsters batting in the top of the fourth when Joe Lucas singled off of Michael Parmely, driving in one run.
Suns collected eight hits and Sea Monsters had 13 in the high-scoring affair
Suns took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Brad Pearson drove in one run when he doubled.
Suns knotted the game up at six in the bottom of the second inning. Justice Bigbie singled on a 2-1 count in the second inning, scoring two runs.
Sea Monsters took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth there was an error, scoring one run.
Suns scored three runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Pearsonand a single by Bigbie.
Sea Monsters scored six runs in the fifth inning. Sea Monsters’s big inning was driven by a single by Andrew Godsey, a single by Terrence Pinkston, a single by Joe Lucas, and a single by Dwight Riddick.
Nick Bay earned the win for Sea Monsters. He threw three and a third innings, allowing six runs, five hits, and striking out three. Two relievers helped Sea Monsters close out the victory. Colby Lee threw two and two-thirds innings. Meigs Lamb took the loss for Suns. He tossed one and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs, and three hits.
Pearson and Bigbie each collected multiple hits for Suns. Bigbie and Pearson each managed two hits to lead Suns.
Riddick, Pinkston, and Lucas each collected multiple hits for Sea Monsters.
