Seagulls Blows Out Suns Thanks To Big Eighth Inning
July 3, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Seagulls defeated Suns 10-1 on Monday thanks to six runs in the eighth inning. Seagullsscored on a double by Elijah Ervin, a single by Jonathan Santiago, a single by Luis Diaz, and a triple by Derrek Marshall Jr..
Suns captured the lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Brad Pearson drove in one run when he doubled.
Seagulls evened things up at one in the bottom of the fourth inning. Seagulls scored one run when Derrek Marshall Jr. singled with two outs in the fourth inning.
Seagulls took the lead for good with one run in the fifth inning. In the fifth Chris Baker induced Jonathan Santiago to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Seagulls scored six runs in the eighth inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Elijah Ervin, a single by Santiago, a single by Luis Diaz, and a triple by Marshall Jr..
John Wicksier earned the win for Seagulls. He tossed six innings, allowing one run, three hits, and striking out three. Casey Lewandoski threw two innings, as two relievers helped Seagullsfinish off the victory. Alexander MacKinnon took the loss for Suns. He threw four and a third innings, surrendering two runs, five hits, and striking out two.
Seagulls collected 15 hits. Marshall Jr., Garrison Vick, Ervin, Diaz, and Santiago each collected multiple hits for Seagulls. Santiago and Marshall Jr. each drove in three runs to lead Seagulls.
