Lewis’s Walkoff Gives Seagulls Victory Over Suns
June 12, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
A walk-off home run led Seagulls past Suns 8-7 on Monday. Seagulls was down 7-6 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Jordeyn Lewis homered off of Michael Parmely, driving in two runs.
Seagulls earned the victory despite allowing Suns to score five runs in the second inning.Suns’s big inning was driven by a single by Lawrence Cicileo, a single by Michael Perlo, a wild pitch , and a single by Tynan Hoefferle.
Suns took an early lead in the second inning. Cicileo singled on a 2-1 count in the second inning, scoring one run.
Seagulls knotted the game up at six in the bottom of the seventh inning. Patrick Keohane hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
Seagulls scored three runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a single , a single by Young, and a fielder’s choice by Keohane.
Derrek Marshall Jr. earned the win for Seagulls. He tossed one and two-thirds innings, giving up zero runs, one hit, and striking out one. Michael Parmely took the loss for Suns. He went two and a third innings, giving up three runs, two hits, and striking out three.
Connor Woods started the game for Seagulls. He threw six innings, surrendering six runs, nine hits, striking out nine, and walking one. Ben Marsico started the game for Suns. He tossed six innings, surrendering five runs, seven hits, and striking out five.
Seagulls had nine hits in the game. Andrew Poirier, Shane Gipson, and Young each collected multiple hits for Seagulls. Young, Gipson, and Poirier each managed two hits to lead Seagulls.
