Sea Monsters Loses Lead Early In Defeat
June 7, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Sea Monsters watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 9-3 loss to Seagulls on Wednesday. Seagulls scored on a single by Andrew Poirier, a single by Christopher Houle, and a single by Grant Thompson in the second inning.
Seagulls took an early lead in the second inning. Andrew Poirier singled on a 2-1 count in the second inning, scoring one run.
Connor Woods earned the win for Seagulls. He pitched six innings, surrendering three runs, five hits, and striking out four. Three relievers helped Seagulls close out the victory. Tyler Key threw one inning. Glen Pizzanello took the loss for Sea Monsters. He threw three and a third innings, surrendering seven runs, ten hits, striking out two, and walking zero.
Lucas Terwilliger led Sea Monsters with two runs batted in. He went 2-for-4 on the day.
Seagulls had 12 hits in the game. Garrett Houston, Grant Thompson, and Luis Diaz each collected multiple hits for Seagulls.
