Waves Grabs Lead In Eighth Inning For Victory Over Bluefish
June 23, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Waves defeated Bluefish 6-3 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at three with Waves batting in the bottom of the eighth when Collin Porter doubled off of Stephen Larson, driving in one run.
Bluefish evened things up at three in the top of the sixth inning. Cimaroli doubled on a 1-2 count in the sixth inning, scoring one run.
Christian Rivera earned the win for Waves. He threw five and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs, two hits, and striking out seven. Chase Douglas recorded the last ten outs to earn the save for Waves. Stephen Larson took the loss for Bluefish. He pitched eight innings, allowing six runs, five hits, striking out one, and walking zero.
Collin Porter and Jackson Posnik each drove in two runs to lead Waves.
MacMilan Shoenman led Bluefish with two hits in four at bats. Bluefish stole four bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Shoenman led the way with two.
