Day 3 of the 2019 Harry Postove Memorial Championship Tournament was impacted by weather, and despite not being able to get all of our games in, we were able to decide the winner of Bracket B, sending the Lakewood Legends into tomorrow’s Championship Game vs the Norfolk Redbirds.

The Norfolk Redbirds will face the Lakewood Legends in the 2019 Harry Postove Memorial Championship Game at 10:00am on Friday, July 5th. The game will be played at Perry Field on the beautiful campus of Virginia Wesleyan University.

Portsmouth Yardbirds Clings To Victory As Virginia Beach Shredders Nearly Erases 4-Run Deficit
Despite seeing its four-run lead whittled down by the end, Portsmouth Yardbirds still held off Virginia Beach Shredders for a 5-4 victory on Thursday. Virginia Beach Shredders scored three runs in the failed comeback on a double by Kevin Worrell and a single by Daniel Lilja.
Portsmouth Yardbirds earned the victory despite allowing Virginia Beach Shredders to score three runs in the seventh inning. Virginia Beach Shredders‘s big inning was driven by a single by Lilja and a double by Worrell.
Portsmouth Yardbirds fired up the offense in the second inning. Liam Geib‘s sac fly scored one run for Portsmouth Yardbirds.
Robert McDaniel took the win for Portsmouth Yardbirds. He surrendered one run on four hits over six innings, striking out three and walking zero. Brook Hamilton and Noah Floyd entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Hamilton recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Portsmouth Yardbirds.
William VanSickle took the loss for Virginia Beach Shredders. He lasted five innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three.
Christopher Berry led Portsmouth Yardbirds with two hits in four at bats.

Greenbrier Knights Falls To Suffolk Voyagers After Sixth Inning Score
Greenbrier Knights lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat to Suffolk Voyagers on Thursday. Suffolk Voyagers was down 3-2 in the top of the sixth inning when Alex Miller grounded out, scoring two runs.
Greenbrier Knights got things started in the first inning. Stefan Lesco singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
In the top of the second inning, Suffolk Voyagers tied things up at two when Miller singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Suffolk Voyagers took the lead for good with three runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth South Trimble doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Outer Banks Daredevils Struggles To Find Groove Against Lakewood Legends
Outer Banks Daredevils had a tough time generating runs on Thursday, dropping their game with Lakewood Legends 12-4.
Outer Banks Daredevils knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Lakewood Legends pulled away for good with two runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Austin Kirkpatrick singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Tristan Welch‘s sac fly scored one run for Lakewood Legends.
Lakewood Legends scored three runs in the ninth inning. The offensive firepower by Lakewood Legends was led by Bren Faulk, Evan Keller, and Drew Hill, all driving in runs in the frame.
Bo Gonzales was credited with the victory for Lakewood Legends. He surrendered three runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out 11. Kyle McShaffry threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
