Norfolk Redbirds Stays Scrappy In Loss To Suffolk Voyagers

Despite a 5-run deficit in the second inning, Norfolk Redbirds almost came all the way back, eventually falling 10-9 to Suffolk Voyagers on Monday. Norfolk Redbirds managed seven runs in the failed comeback. Jordon WrightJordan HaraCampbell PryorMax LipscombDarren McKeown, and Christian Szablewski all picked up RBIs in the rally.

Norfolk Redbirds was right in it until Suffolk Voyagers in the seventh inning.

Suffolk Voyagers captured the lead in the second inning when Nathan Mix drew a walk, scoring one run.

Norfolk Redbirds notched three runs in the fourth inning. Norfolk Redbirds batters contributing to the big inning included LipscombMcKeown, and Szablewski, who all drove in runs.

Suffolk Voyagers scored six runs in the second inning. Suffolk Voyagers‘s big inning was driven by walks by Pedro MendezMix, and Matthew Staelgraeve and an error on a ball put in play by Matthew LaBadie.

Jacob Faivre led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Suffolk Voyagers. He lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and six runs while striking out two.

Hayden Olson was on the mound for Norfolk Redbirds. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on two hits and striking out four. Ben Berger and Davis Gurosky entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and two and a third innings respectively.

Cole Mallery led Suffolk Voyagers with three hits in four at bats. Suffolk Voyagers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Mallery had the most chances in the field with five.
