Jones’s Walk-Off Gives Tidewater Drillers Blue Victory Over Greenbrier Knights In Game 2 of Postove Cup Tourney
Wednesday, July 28, 2021 – Virginia Beach, VA
A walk-off walk propelled Tidewater Drillers Blue to a decisive, dramatic victory over Greenbrier Knights TSL21, 6-5. The game was tied at five with Tidewater Drillers Blue batting in the bottom of the twelfth when Bryce Jones drew a walk, scoring one run.
Greenbrier Knights TSL21 fired up the offense in the first inning, when Lincoln Lubsen drew a walk, scoring one run.
Tidewater Drillers Blue knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the eleventh inning. Josh Prinzel hit a solo homer.
Ethan Firoved got the start for Tidewater Drillers Blue. The southpaw lasted five innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out 12.
Zach Updike was on the mound for Greenbrier Knights TSL21. The pitcher went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out seven. Danny Padilla and Sparky Bannon entered the game as relief, throwing five innings and one-third of an inning respectively.
Tidewater Drillers Blue smacked one home run on the day. Prinzel went deep in the eleventh inning.
Tidewater Drillers Blue scattered ten hits in the game. Trent Jones and Ryan Peterson all managed multiple hits for Tidewater Drillers Blue. Jones went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Tidewater Drillers Blue in hits.
