Chesapeake Reapers Claws Back, But Falls Just Short Against Tidewater Drillers White

Sunday, July 25, 2021 – Virginia Beach, VA

Chesapeake Reapers fought back after falling down by seven runs in the fourth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in an 11-9 defeat to Tidewater Drillers White on Sunday. Chesapeake Reapers scored six runs in the failed comeback. Jalen MarchNicholas Scanlon, and Braxton Gallet each picked up RBIs.

Chesapeake Reapers couldn’t keep up with Tidewater Drillers White early in the game. Tidewater Drillers White scored on a single by Ryan Long in the first inning, a groundout by Terrence McGowan in the first inning, a error in the first inning, a groundout by Kade Abrisz in the second inning, and a home run by Ryan Ballard in the second inning.

Tidewater Drillers White got on the board in the first inning when Long singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Chesapeake Reapers scored four runs in the sixth inning. Scanlon had an RBI single in the inning to lead the run scoring.

Nick Mattfield was the winning pitcher for Tidewater Drillers WhiteMattfield went three innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out three and walking zero. Caleb Bellisle threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.
