Bluefish Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Knights

June 10, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Bluefish and Knights played a taut affair on Wednesday, but Bluefish eventually prevailed 17-9 after taking the lead for good in the seventh inning. Bluefish trailed 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Chadler Young doubled off of Trent Kochheiser, driving in two runs.

Chadler Young led Bluefish to victory by driving in five runs. He went 2-for-4 at the plate. Youngdrove in runs on a single in the third, a double in the seventh, and a groundout in the eighth.

Knights scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Knights came thanks to a walk , a groundout by Jay Brandt, and a error.

Alec Berry earned the win for Bluefish. He tossed three and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs, six hits, and striking out three. Trent Kochheiser took the loss for Knights. He threw two innings, allowing nine runs, six hits, and striking out one.

Kyle Zimmermann started the game for Knights. He tossed three innings, surrendering five runs, four hits, and striking out one. Landon Sewell started the game for Bluefish. He pitched five innings, giving up three runs, five hits, and striking out five.

Bluefish collected 14 hits. Michael Rojas, Spencer Muirhead, Kevin Edgar, Young, and Noah Herried each collected multiple hits for Bluefish. Herried, Young, Edgar, Muirhead, and Rojas each collected two hits to lead Bluefish.

Knights stole four bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Chris Hendersonled the way with two.

Daredevils Keeps It Close Against Seagulls, But Eventually Falls 6-3

June 9, 2017 – Norfolk, VA

Even though Daredevils and Seagulls both had opportunities, it was Seagulls that eventually prevailed 6-3 on Friday. The game was tied at three with Seagulls batting in the top of the eighth when Shane Gipson singled off of Ryan Allen, driving in one run.

Seagulls took an early lead in the first inning. Derrek Marshall Jr.’s sac fly scored one run for Seagulls.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Daredevils tied things up at three. Chase Walter walked Derek Horton with the bases loaded to drive in a run.

Walter earned the win for Seagulls. He went five innings, giving up three runs, two hits, and striking out seven. Three relievers helped Seagulls close out the victory. John Wicksier threw two innings. Tyler Key recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Seagulls. Ryan Allen took the loss for Daredevils. He tossed two innings, giving up three runs, three hits, striking out two, and walking one.

Hunter Perdue started the game for Daredevils. He pitched five innings, allowing three runs, three hits, and striking out nine.

Eli Straw and Horton each drove in one run to lead Daredevils.

Shane Gipson led Seagulls with two hits in four at bats.

Henderson’s Walkoff Gives Knights Victory Over Hawks

June 9, 2017 – Norfolk, VA

Knights took Friday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 6-5 walk-off victory over Hawks. Knights trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Chris Henderson doubled off of Liam Carr, driving in two runs.

Hawks scored four runs in the fifth inning, but Knights still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Hawks came thanks to a single by Brett Sherron, a single by Richard De La Cruz, and a single by Conner Clark.

Liam Carr took the loss for Hawks. He tossed one-third of an inning, allowing one run, two hits, and walking one.

Taylor Barker started the game for Hawks. He pitched seven innings, giving up zero runs, three hits, striking out four, and walking one.

Knights collected 11 hits. Chris Henderson, Zachary Herring, Teddy Herbert, and Isaiah Junkins each collected multiple hits for Knights. Herring and Henderson each managed three hits to lead Knights.

Hawks had 13 hits in the game. Andre Marchesseault, Sherron, Jamar Criss, and Clark each collected multiple hits for Hawks. Hawks was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Cullen Stockley made the most plays with eight.

Bluefish Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Bluefish watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 17-7 loss to Sea Monsters on Friday. Sea Monsters scored on a single by Robert Saghy, a single by Dwight Riddick, and a single by Terrence Pinkston in the second inning.

Bluefish collected 11 hits and Sea Monsters had 20 in the high-scoring affair

Sea Monsters took an early lead in the second inning. Robert Saghy drove in one when he singled in the second inning.

Bluefish scored three runs in the third inning. Bluefish scored on a single by Brelin Carroll.

Sea Monsters scored six runs in the third inning. Sea Monsters’s big inning was driven by a double by Saghy and a double by Lucas Terwilliger.

Pat Barrett earned the win for Sea Monsters. He went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs, six hits, striking out three, and walking one. John Barclay III took the loss for Bluefish. He pitched two and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs, nine hits, and striking out one.

Fightin’ Crabs Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Pelicans

June 9, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Fightin’ Crabs defeated Pelicans 9-1 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one with Fightin’ Crabs batting in the bottom of the sixth when there was an error, scoring one run.

Fightin’ Crabs secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the seventh inning. Fightin’ Crabs’s big inning was driven by a single by TJ Wardwell, a single by John Tierney Jr., a single by Sam Graf, a single by Evan Hirschbaum, and a double by Ben MacDonald.

Pelicans captured the lead in the first inning. Matt Krause drove in one when he doubled in the first inning.

Fightin’ Crabs knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored one run for Fightin’ Crabs.

Fightin’ Crabs took the lead for good with one run in the sixth inning.

Fightin’ Crabs scored seven runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Wardwell, a single by Tierney Jr., a single by Graf, a single by Hirschbaum, and a double by MacDonald.

Noah Gear earned the win for Fightin’ Crabs. He tossed eight innings, giving up one run, four hits, striking out six, and walking zero. Nick Wood took the loss for Pelicans. He threw six innings, allowing two runs, six hits, and walking zero.

Fightin’ Crabs collected 13 hits. Billy Buscetto, Wardwell, Graf, and Reilly Workman each collected multiple hits for Fightin’ Crabs. MacDonald went 1-for-4 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.

Krause went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Pelicans in hits.

Suns Takes Some Time To Pull Away From Waves

June 9, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Suns had trouble putting away Waves on Friday, but eventually Suns prevailed 10-3. Suns took the lead for good in the eighth inning. The game was tied at three with Suns batting in the bottom of the eighth when Lawrence Cicileo singled off of Brian Vieira, driving in one run.

Suns secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the eighth inning. Suns scored on a single by Lawrence Cicileo, a double by Michael Perlo, a single by Justin Bunting, a single by Cameron Jensen, a walk by Jamarius Epperson, and a walk by Michael Polansky.

Suns took an early lead in the first inning. Justice Bigbie drove in one when he singled in the first inning.

In the top of the sixth inning, Waves tied things up at three. An error scored two runs for Waves.

Eric O’Brien earned the win for Suns. He tossed nine innings, allowing three runs, five hits, striking out five, and walking one. Brian Vieira took the loss for Waves. He went two innings, giving up six runs, five hits, striking out one, and walking one.

Griffin Holtz started the game for Waves. He tossed five innings, allowing three runs, eight hits, striking out four, and walking one.

Suns had 14 hits in the game. Jensen, Epperson, Austin Thomas, Perlo, and Bigbie each collected multiple hits for Suns. Perlo and Epperson each drove in two runs to lead Suns.

Matt Padeway led Waves with two hits in three at bats. Waves was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Brandon Shirley had the most chances in the field with seven.

Fightin’ Crabs Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Hawks

June 8, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Fightin’ Crabs defeated Hawks 7-6 in a back-and-forth affair on Thursday. The game was tied at six with Fightin’ Crabs batting in the bottom of the seventh when Kyle Kania singled off of Trey Celata, driving in one run.

Despite falling down by four runs in the fourth inning, Hawks tried to fight back. Hawks scored five runs in the failed comeback on a double by Robert Cutone in the sixth, a by Cullen Stockley in the sixth, a single by Andre Marchesseault in the sixth, a walk by Brett Sherron in the seventh, and a in the seventh.

Hawks took an early lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Sherron drove in one run when he doubled.

Fightin’ Crabs scored three runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Brendan Gausselin, a single by Kyle Kania, and a single by John Tierney Jr..

Hawks scored three runs in the sixth inning. Hawks’s big inning was driven by a double by Cutone and a single by Marchesseault.

Jake Thompson earned the win for Fightin’ Crabs. He pitched two and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs, one hit, striking out three, and walking zero. Trey Celata took the loss for Hawks. He threw two innings, surrendering one run, three hits, and striking out three.

Brady Moore started the game for Fightin’ Crabs. He tossed six innings, allowing four runs, eight hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Jake Ottinger started the game for Hawks. He threw two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs, four hits, and striking out one.

Fightin’ Crabs had ten hits in the game. Kania, Gausselin, Tierney Jr., and Evan Hirschbaum each collected multiple hits for Fightin’ Crabs. Hirschbaum, Tierney Jr., Gausselin, and Kania each collected two hits to lead Fightin’ Crabs.

Sherron led Hawks with two runs batted in. He went 3-for-3 on the day. Hawks was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Tyler Dodson made the most plays with six.

Seagulls Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Knights

Even though Seagulls and Knights both had their opportunities, it was Knights that eventually prevailed 5-3 on Thursday. The game was tied at three with Knights batting in the top of the ninth when JR Polak singled off of John Wicksier, driving in one run.

Seagulls took an early lead in the first inning. Seagulls scored one run when Derrek Marshall Jr.homered with two outs in the first inning.

Knights evened things up at three in the top of the eighth inning. An error scored one run for Knights.

Waves Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Waves watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 5-0 loss to Pelicans on Thursday. Pelicans scored on a single by Harrison Sabo in the first inning and a single by Justin Hayes in the second inning.

Waves lost despite out-hitting Pelicans 11 to ten.

Pelicans took an early lead in the first inning. Pelicans scored one run when Harrison Sabosingled with one out in the first inning.

One bright spot for Waves was a single by Thomas Meucci in the first inning.

Samuel Wood earned the win for Pelicans. He went seven innings, giving up zero runs, nine hits, striking out seven, and walking one. Two relievers helped Pelicans close out the victory. Chance Harvey threw one inning. Chance Pauley took the loss for Waves. He pitched five innings, giving up three runs, seven hits, and striking out five.

Suns defeated Bluefish 12-11 on Thursday thanks to a walk-off single. Suns was down 11-10 in the bottom of the tenth inning when Michael Parmely singled off of Olyn Miller, driving in two runs.

After Bluefish scored three runs in the top of the second, Suns answered with three of their own.Bluefish scored when Cody Steffey hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run and Kevin Edgar singled off of Bobby Golding, driving in two runs. Suns then answered when Cameron Jensen hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, Jarad Clevenger tripled off of Kevin Beckert, driving in one run, and Beckert induced Brad Pearson to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Suns knotted the game up at ten in the bottom of the ninth inning. With two outs in the ninth inning Tynan Hoefferle drove in one run when he singled.

Suns scored three runs in the ninth inning. Suns’s big inning was driven by a groundout by Lawrence Cicileo and a single by Hoefferle.

Bluefish scored four runs in the eighth inning. Bluefish’s big inning was driven by a single by Isaiah Cruz and a double by Edgar.

Meigs Lamb earned the win for Suns. He pitched two innings, allowing one run, zero hits, and striking out two. Olyn Miller took the loss for Bluefish. He went one-third of an inning, giving up two runs, and one hit.

Golding started the game for Suns. He threw two and a third innings, allowing six runs, and three hits. Beckert started the game for Bluefish. He went four innings, surrendering six runs, five hits, and striking out two.

Jamarius Epperson, Hoefferle, and Pearson each collected multiple hits for Suns. Pearson and Michael Parmely each drove in two runs to lead Suns.

Edgar led Bluefish with two hits in three at bats. Bluefish tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. MacMilan Shoenman led the way with two.
