Rain interupts opening day play

June 5, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA & Kill Devil Hills, NC

Game 2 of today’s TSL/VBCBL opening day schedule was suspended by rain in the top of the 7th inning with the score tied 1 -1.

Games 3 and 4 were cancelled due to rain.

Also, the opening night contest between the Outer Banks Daredevils and the Greenbrier Knights in the OBX has also been rained out.

 

2017 Season Information

For the upcoming 2017 season, the Tidewater Collegiate Summer Baseball League will once again be teaming up with the Virginia Beach Collegiate Baseball League, to bring exciting collegiate summer baseball and the boys of summer back to the Tidewater area for another action packed summer of collegiate summer league baseball.

The leagues will combine to field ten (10) teams, and will play a 30 game regular season schedule, including our annual All Star Game, and Post Season League Championship Tournament. The schedule provides for consistent game play, while allowing time for players to practice and continue to develop their skills, providing the opportunity to compete in over 250 innings of quality baseball this summer. Games will be played at Marty Miller Field on the campus of Norfolk State University, Marlin Field on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan College and TowneBank OBX Park, located at the First Flight Athletic Complex in Kill Devil Hills, NC. See our Fields page for more information.

Players will receive instruction and leadership from our outstanding coaching staff, with decades of experience helping student/athletes get the most out of their summer baseball experience and our players will also receive additional instruction from former Major League and Minor League Players and Coaches. Housing is available for the upcoming season, with our players having the option of staying in the dorms on the beautiful campus of Virginia Wesleyan College, and enjoying all of the great amenities, including a meal plan and access to the fitness center and other facilities. 2017 Player Registration Open

March 24, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

2017 Player Registration period remains open for the Tidewater Collegiate Summer Baseball League upcoming season, however, all defensive players/hitters positions have been filled*.  Playing opportunities for both starting and relief pitching remain available.

*Please note that prior to the start of every summer season, roster spots open up due to player injuries during spring season or last minute change of summer plans, therefore, the league will maintain a waiting list of reserve players who will be contacted in the event a roster spot for their respective position becomes available. If you are a defensive player/hitter whose plays a position that is currently not available, but would like to be placed on the waiting list to be notified if a roster spot for your position becomes available, please email the league with the requested player registration information located on the player registration page (put “waiting list” in the memo).

Topher Ellis named head coach of Hawks

January 25, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

The Tidewater Collegiate Summer Baseball League has named Topher Ellis head coach of the Tidewater Hawks. Coach Ellis is currently the owner/operator of Ellis Sports Performance in Virginia Beach, VA, and his resume includes serving as Asst Coach at the University of Mary Washington, Asst Coach in the TSL with the Lynnhaven Stars, and playing his college baseball at Longwood University.

Coach Ellis brings a wealth of baseball knowledge and experience along with his high energy and strong work ethic to the Hawks, and will be an asset to both the Hawks players and the league. We are excited to have Coach Ellis join our staff for the upcoming summer season and taking the reins of the Tidewater Hawks. Please join us in welcoming Coach Topher Ellis back to the Tidewater Collegiate Summer Baseball League and in wishing him the best during the upcoming season.

2017 MLB Draft Watch

With just a little more than a month until the 2017 MLB draft, the Tidewater Collegiate Summer Baseball League has released it’s 2017 Draft Watch. We are always proud to hear former TSL player’s names being called in the draft, joining the host of other TSL Alum in the hollowed halls of professional baseball. Tidewater Collegiate Summer Baseball League

The Tidewater Collegiate Summer Baseball League (TSL) is a collegiate, summer, baseball league that provides college baseball players the opportunity to participate in a highly competitive, well organized, baseball league during the summer, and gain valuable playing experience after the college season has ended.

We are the oldest Collegiate Baseball League in the Mid-Atlantic region, consistently delivering a great summer baseball experience for over 70 years. More than 40 of our former players have played professional baseball, and over a dozen of them played in the Major Leagues, some earning MLB All Star recognition and one even winning the National League Batting Title. TIDEWATER COLLEGIATE SUMMER LEAGUE’S 2016 AWARDS & HONORS

DuCharme & Creps win league’s top honors for 2016 TCSL season.

Pitching:

Outer Banks Daredevils’s ace Chance DuCharme (Francis Marion Univ) wins the Tidewater Collegiate Summer League’s 2016 Pedro Martinez Award, given to the league’s top pitcher each summer. Ducharme had a great summer, pitching 35 2/3 innings, allowing only 20 hits, 8 runs, 3 earned, with 16 walks, 45 strike outs, posting a 0.757 ERA and a 1.009 WHIP.

Hitting:

Outer Banks Daredevils outfielder Ryan Creps (Canisius College) wins the Tidewater Collegiate Summer League’s 2016 Ted Williams Award, given each year to the league’s top offensive player. Creps put up tremendous offensive numbers in all categories, batting .327, going 17 – 52, with 3 doubles, a triple, 18 runs scored, 6 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and a .500 OBP, .423 SLG, and .923 OPS.
