Waves Jumps Out To Early Lead In Victory Over Fightin’ Crabs

June 22, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Waves grabbed an early lead on its way to an 11-2 victory over Fightin’ Crabs on Thursday.Waves scored on a double by Matt Padeway, a single by Colin Mattice, a double by Brandon Shirley, and a single by Thomas Meucci in the first inning.

Fightin’ Crabs took an early lead in the first inning. Evan Hirschbaum grounded out, scoring one run.

Waves took the lead for good with four runs in the first inning. In the first Matt Padeway doubled off of Griffen Tate, driving in one run, Colin Mattice singled off of Tate, driving in one run, Brandon Shirley doubled off of Tate, driving in one run, and Thomas Meucci singled off of Tate, driving in one run.

Chance Pauley earned the win for Waves. He went seven innings, giving up two runs, eight hits, striking out six, and walking zero. Two relievers helped Waves close out the victory. Jacob Day threw one inning. Tate took the loss for Fightin’ Crabs. He tossed five innings, surrendering ten runs, 14 hits, and walking one.

Waves had 15 hits in the game. Declan O’Malley, Brandon Kussmaul, Kevin Roberts, Meucci, and Padeway each collected multiple hits for Waves. Meucci led Waves with four runs batted in. He went 2-for-3 on the day.

Fightin’ Crabs collected eight hits. John Tierney Jr. and Billy Buscetto each collected multiple hits for Fightin’ Crabs.

Jensen Strong At The Plate As Suns Defeats Hawks

June 22, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Four hits from Cameron Jensen helped lead Suns past Hawks 14-1 on Thursday. Jensensingled in the first, doubled in the third, singled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth.

Hawks captured the lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Hawks.

Suns took the lead for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Justice Bigbie singled off of Conner Clark, driving in one run, Andrew Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, Tynan Hoefferle singled off of Clark, driving in one run, Tyler Dean doubled off of Clark, driving in one run, Austin Thomas singled off of Clark, driving in one run, and Cameron Jensen doubled off of Clark, driving in one run.

Alexander MacKinnon earned the win for Suns. He went five innings, allowing one run, three hits, and striking out five. Clark took the loss for Hawks. He threw three innings, allowing six runs, eight hits, and striking out one.

Suns collected 17 hits. Jensen, Hoefferle, Thomas, Michael Perlo, and Bigbie each collected multiple hits for Suns.

Sea Monsters Falls To Seagulls After Seventh Inning Score

June 22, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Sea Monsters lost the lead late in a 2-1 defeat to Seagulls on Thursday. The game was tied at one with Seagulls batting in the top of the seventh when there was an error, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Seagulls pitchers struck out nine, while Sea Monsterssat down six

Seagulls captured the lead in the second inning. With zero outs in the second inning Shane Gipson drove in one run when he doubled.

In the bottom of the third inning, Sea Monsters tied things up at one. Troy White grounded out, scoring one run.

Chase Walter earned the win for Seagulls. He threw nine innings, giving up one run, three hits, and striking out nine. Garrett Wente took the loss for Sea Monsters. He went seven innings, giving up two runs, one hit, and striking out four.

White went 0-for-4 at the plate as he led the team with one run batted in.

Gipson led Seagulls with one run batted in. He went 1-for-4 on the day.

Daredevils Defeats Hawks In High-Scoring Affair

Bats were blistered as Daredevils defeated Hawks 12-6 on Monday.

Daredevils took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth there was an error, scoring one run.

Daredevils scored four runs in the sixth inning. Daredevils scored on a single by Eli Straw and a walk by Derek Horton.

Hunter Perdue earned the win for Daredevils. He pitched seven innings, giving up three runs, three hits, and striking out six. Two relievers helped Daredevils close out the victory. Josh Tolson threw one inning. Ethan Santos took the loss for Hawks. He tossed four innings, surrendering three runs, two hits, and striking out five.

Straw and Horton each drove in two runs to lead Daredevils.

Pelicans Takes Some Time To Pull Away From Knights

June 19, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Pelicans had trouble putting away Knights on Monday, but eventually Pelicans prevailed 8-6. Pelicans took the lead for good in the seventh inning. The game was tied at six with Pelicans batting in the bottom of the seventh when Santino Paris singled off of Matt Polak, driving in one run.

Pelicans collected 12 hits and Knights had six in the high-scoring affair

Pelicans took an early lead in the second inning. Jackson Peterson drove in one when he singled in the second inning.

Knights scored three runs in the fifth inning. Knights’s big inning was driven by a error and a groundout.

Chance Harvey earned the win for Pelicans. He pitched two innings, giving up two runs, two hits, and striking out two. Joe Klingensmith recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Pelicans. Matt Polak took the loss for Knights. He went two innings, giving up two runs, three hits, striking out three, and walking zero.

Danny Madden started the game for Pelicans. He threw five innings, allowing four runs, three hits, and striking out eight. Colin Ottofaro started the game for Knights. He pitched four innings, allowing six runs, eight hits, and striking out three.

Waves Can’t Quite Erase 4-Run Deficit In Loss To Sea Monsters

June 19, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Despite a 4-run deficit in the twelfth inning, Waves almost came all the way back, eventually falling 5-4 to Sea Monsters on Monday. Waves scored three runs in the failed comeback on a by Ross Abrash, a fielder’s choice by Jacob Day, and a walk by Jonathan Lindau.

Waves was right in it until Sea Monsters in the twelfth inning

Waves evened things up at one in the bottom of the eighth inning. Thomas Meucci hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

Glen Pizzanello earned the win for Sea Monsters. He tossed two innings, allowing three runs, and three hits. Christian Rivera took the loss for Waves. He went one inning, allowing zero runs, zero hits, striking out one, and walking zero.

Jacob Pilarski started the game for Waves. He went nine innings, giving up one run, three hits, and striking out eight. Nick Bay started the game for Sea Monsters. He threw nine innings, allowing one run, six hits, and striking out six.

Blaeser’s Walkoff Gives Fightin’ Crabs Victory Over Suns

A walk-off single led Fightin’ Crabs past Suns 3-2 on Monday. The game was tied at two with Fightin’ Crabs batting in the bottom of the ninth when Zachary Blaeser singled off of Chris Baker, driving in one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Fightin’ Crabs pitchers struck out five, while hurlers for Suns sat down five.

Fightin’ Crabs evened things up at two in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs in the seventh inning Sam Graf drove in two runs when he doubled.

Jake Thompson earned the win for Fightin’ Crabs. He went three innings, giving up zero runs, one hit, striking out two, and walking zero. Chris Baker took the loss for Suns. He threw one inning, giving up one run, and one hit.

Ryan Riley started the game for Suns. He went six and a third innings, surrendering two runs, six hits, and striking out five. Noah Gear started the game for Fightin’ Crabs. He pitched six innings, surrendering two runs, seven hits, striking out three, and walking one.

Seagulls Drops Game To Bluefish After Late Score

June 19, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Monday’s game against Bluefish was a heartbreaker for Seagulls, as they lost the lead late in a 2-0 defeat. The game was tied at zero with Bluefish batting in the top of the sixth when Kevin Edgar singled off of Bryan Johnsen, driving in two runs.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Bluefish pitchers struck out 12, while Seagulls sat down four

One bright spot for Seagulls was a single by Jordeyn Lewis in the first inning.

Landon Sewell earned the win for Bluefish. He threw five and two-thirds innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, and striking out seven. Two relievers helped Bluefish close out the victory. Alec Berry threw two innings. Berry recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Bluefish.Bryan Johnsen took the loss for Seagulls. He pitched eight innings, surrendering two runs, five hits, and striking out three.

Lewis, Matt Van Muelken, and Patrick Keohane each managed one hit to lead Seagulls.

Tidewater Hawks 5, Sandbridge Seagulls 1

Hawks take early lead and hold on to defeat Seagulls 5 – 1.

June 18, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA

Seagulls watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 5-1 loss to Hawks on Sunday. Hawks scored on a double by Cullen Stockley and a single by Dalton Jackson in the first inning.

Hawks took an early lead in the first inning. Hawks scored one run when Cullen Stockleydoubled with one out in the first inning.

Trey Celata earned the win for Hawks. He went five and a third innings, surrendering one run, six hits, striking out four, and walking one. Ben Mason recorded the last 11 outs to earn the save for Hawks. Connor Woods took the loss for Seagulls. He pitched seven innings, giving up three runs, ten hits, striking out six, and walking one.

Elijah Ervin led Seagulls with one run batted in. He went 1-for-2 on the day.

Hawks had 13 hits in the game. Andre Marchesseault, Dalton Jackson, Tyler Dodson, and Stockley each collected multiple hits for Hawks. Hawks was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Jackson had the most chances in the field with nine.
